UV Coatings MSDS Sheet
NEW UV COATING SYSTEM - We are upgrading our UV coating system to incorporate a NEW waterbase polyoxide basecoat/primer. We have developed this primer to make application of our UV system easier and safer. Ease of application is VERY important to us because we know what refinishing companies have to go through on a daily bases. Our new waterbase polyoxide sprays a LOT easier than our past UV base coats, it virtually has no smell (interior latex paint odor) can be made in ANY COLOR, is a LOT less expensive that UV base coats and adhesion is increased to the point equal to our aerospace primer. We feel this combination of state of the art waterbase technology incorporated with UV clear coat technology will put UV refinishing on the top of the refinishing industry. UV base coats can be VERY tricky to apply, our new waterbase polyoxide will take the place of our UV base coats because of its ease of application. UV clearcoats are very easy to apply and cure without any difficulty, this is why we feel the combination of both will put the environmentally safe/immediate use refinishing system in great demand for our industry.
APPLICATION - You will clean your porcelain, tile and china surfaces as normal. Our new polyoxide primer is a 3 part resin, 1 part catalyst to 1, or ½ water (reducer). Once mixed , you will have a 10 minute induction time. Spray three medium coats over your surface pausing 3 to 4 minutes between coats. You primer will spray on glossy, then dry flat, once you see it flattening out, you can spray your second and third coat. After your third coat you want your primer to dry very good, normal cure will be 30 to 35 minutes but again, you can increase the cure time to 20 to 25 minutes with forced air. Our primer, after it is dried is hard enough to sand with a 400 or 600 grit sandpaper, ths will allow you to get any surface dust that might be in your primer out, giving you a very smooth surface. Sanding the primer IS NOT necessary but it is an option. If you do sand the primer, we suggest wiping the surface down with a tac cloth or light damp rag.
After the primer is dried, apply two thin coats of UV clear over primer, let UV clear stand for 5 minutes, and then make THREE to FOUR passes at 10 to 18 inches away from the clearcoat. After your passes you are finished , the surface can be used immediately. A normal bathtub takes 14 to 16 minutes to cure out, if you are finishing before this time you might not have a full cure. You cannot hurt the clearcoat or primer if you took longer than the 14 to 16 minutes to cure out. All of our times are calculated with a 1500 watt uv curing system.
ADVANTAGES OVER UV BASE COATS - EASE OF APPLICATION is the BIGGEST difference, our waterbase polyoxidine sprays like our aerospace primer if not better. The adhesion is stronger than the UV base coats, equivalent to our aerospace primer. The odor is less, equivalent to an interior waterbase latex paint. The cost is cut by 60% and we can make any color needed.
TIPS - Once you have mixed your waterbase primer, you will have a 4 hour pot life. Even though the primer will stay thin in a container for weeks, the curing process takes effect in liquid form, so after 4 to 5 hours you will start to lose a lot of adhesion.
If you get any runs with our polyoxide primer, you can either wipe it off with a damp rag if done immediately or force dry to sand out, this primer will dry fast with air induction.
After spraying you polyoxidine primer, clean your spray gun with WATER, NO SOLVENT.
When spraying UV clear, turn your air down by 40 to 50% and open up your needle to get good flow, your UV clear will self level, so if you spray on a minor texture it will self level. By turning your air down to 40 to 50%, you will cut down your overspray dramatically.
UV LIGHTING SYSTEM -The UV lighting system is a very technical piece of equipment that has to be handled with care. We are selling the lights at OUR COST; they will run $1375.00 depending on the current currency exchange rate for the 400 watt system and $2200.00 for the 1500 watt system. The light will include transformer, the light (hand held), a face shield, extra light bulb and a 20' cord from your light to your transformer. These are VERY HIGH tech transformers that give off UVA, UVB and UVC spectrums of light. The transformers are so involved to make, we can only get 50 systems every three weeks with over 1200 companies that are asking for them. We are selling the lights on a first come first serve bases. We can put your companies name on the list if you call.
